What if I move out of the Jamestown Public School District but want my student(s) to continue at their current school in Jamestown?

It is possible for student(s) to continue attending school in the Jamestown Public School District. There are required forms that need to be completed, depending on the date that you moved, to comply with the Department of Public Instructions Regulations. What if my home address is in a different school district, but I want my student(s)to be enrolled in the Jamestown Public School District?

It is possible for your student(s) to attend school in our district even if you live in another district. There are required forms that need to be completed to meet Department of Public Instructions Regulations. Please contact Amy Neustel at 701-252-1950 for assistance.

  • OPEN ENROLLMENT is a North Dakota program that allows parents to apply for their children to attend a school district other than the one in which they live.

Who may participate?

Students who turn five by July 31st of the current school year through 12th grade may apply for Open Enrollment.

How and when may parents apply?

Open enrollment applications need to be submitted yealy by February 28 4:00 p.m.

NOTE-If you currently have a student attending school in the Jamestown Public School District through Open Enrollment, you DO NOT need to re-apply.

What if I'm new to the area or missed the deadline? Can I still apply for Open Enrollment?

Yes you can. There is an Open Enrollment Alternative Form for the current school year available after the deadline has passed.

How do I know whether my student has been accepted or denied?

Acceptance and denial letters are mailed to the parents/guardians once the application has been reviewed by the Jamestown Public School Board.

Who is responsible for transportation?

Parents/Guardians who have open enrolled their student(s) in another district are responsible for transporting them to and from school.
